Technical Info:

The ballistic inserts are built to meet Level IIIA threat requirements. They have been tested by an independent ballistic lab.

Backpacks with ballistic protection weigh only 19 – 27 ounces more than a non-protected pack (based on the pack size).

The panels are constructed using 24 layers of ballistic material made by Netherlands-based Twaron.

Twaron is a strong, synthetic para-aramid fiber similar to Kevlar®. It is used in the global production of body armor, helmets, and ballistic vests. Twaron is also five times stronger than steel. It is also chemical resistant and cut resistant. Its strength is not lost even if it encounters several abrasions and stretching.

The panels are die cut, tack stitched in 24 layer pieces and sealed in a moisture resistant black nylon outer cover that inhibits UV light and moisture that can reduce the useful life of the material.

The build date is stamped on each panel, which has a 5-year useful life.
